They are evident in every detail -James Krenov  At the age of 11 Tarik Yousef built his first table from scraps of old wood, from there his interest in furniture design and construction began. He spent many summers reading about woodworking and scouring the internet for sites focused on the art of woodworking. He started collecting tools when he was 12 years old after he and his father built a small shed in their backyard so Tarik could begin to hone his skills as a woodworker. There was just enough room for a work bench and some small power and hand tools. That year while working a paper route he saved up enough money to buy a drill press, router, table saw, lathe and other tools which he still uses today. Now, years later, he is working out of his third workshop which has ample room for his many ongoing projects. His commitment to every item is evident in his attention to the design process, lumber selection, construction and the final delivery of the item. Tarik takes great pride in knowing that the pieces he makes will be enjoyed by the customer for a lifetime, and then be left to children and grandchildren. For Tarik, the best part of the whole process is seeing the joy in his customers face when they see their item for the first time. At Tarik Yousef Fine Furniture the whole process is about the customer. Every design meeting is done from the comfort of the customers home or from Tariks personal workbench. There the initial concept is conceived and begins to grow. If the design is commissioned, the customer is given the freedom to be involved in the process as much as they want. From simply requesting pictures of the item in progress or visiting the shop to see how a chair fits or meeting with Tarik and/or his upholsterer to select fabric patterns, the whole process is tailored to the customers needs.
